I share resources that work in real classrooms – just like mine!

My Story

Hello, and welcome!  My name is Natalie, and I am the face behind “Natalie’s Nook.”  I bring over 30 years of teaching experience to my work as an educator and resource creator. Throughout my career, I have been driven by a passion for developing hands-on, engaging resources that make learning exciting, meaningful, and accessible for all students.

I focus on designing materials that bring lessons to life!  I believe that learning is most effective when it’s active, engaging, and meaningful.  My resources are crafted to help educators create dynamic classroom experiences that empower students to explore, discover, and connect with the world around them. 

I love designing effective classroom resources.

One of my primary focuses is the Science of Reading.  I am dedicated to using evidence-based practices to support literacy development and ensure students build strong reading foundations.  Helping children unlock the transformative power of reading is one of the greatest joys of my work.

When I’m not teaching or creating resources, you can find me painting with my daughter, cycling, or sitting in the sun with a good book.  These interests often spark new ideas that I incorporate into my work to keep it fresh and relatable.

Absolutely not! My Science of Reading classroom resources are UFLI-aligned, meaning they can be used alongside the UFLI Foundations curriculum or any other structured literacy program. 

My Science of Reading classroom resources are designed to be used as a supplement to your current literacy program. I use them in my own classroom as centers, early finisher activities, small group instruction, and more. I’ve even heard of some teachers using my resources as homework and activities for working with English Language Learners.

This is one of my favourite resources that I’ve purchased so far. I LOVE that Canadian spelling is included and that it aligns with UFLI. I found my Kindergarteners were more successful when I taught how to do the pages in small groups, and then they kept up with it all year as we moved through UFLI lessons! Several of those students told me this was their favourite literacy centre activity in Kindergarten.

This is an easy to use, ready to go resource. I love that there are already differentiated versions for different students needs and that cut and paste is involved as an added fine motor practice. Great resource!
